We have a saying around here @ First Century Church: “Church is not a place. It’s people.” On Sunday, December 27th, we’ll prove it. On the final Sunday of the year, we will NOT have a corporate gathering. But, we’ll still be the Church.
We’re doing this for a few reasons. First, the final Sunday of the year is traditionally one of the lowest attended Sundays of the entire year. And that’s understandable. People are out of town visiting family & enjoying the holiday season. Others are hosting out-of-town family. It’s a nice time to stay in and relax. We’re not the kind of church that sees any value in dragging people to church, guilting people to church, or making them feel guilty for staying home. So, it makes sense in the middle of the busy, fun and family-filled holiday season to skip all that and just give people a week off.
It’s also a good time for our hard-working staff & crew to take a breather. They do & give so much (especially with us being a mobile church), so it’ll be nice to sleep in one Sunday & have a chance to recharge the batteries for a strong start to 2016.
We will still have a chance to worship as a scattered family. If you follow us on Facebook or Twitter, we’ll post a link to a worship set you can listen to on that Sunday (or anytime) and also a link to a short end-of-the-year message to encourage & motivate you as we say “Goodbye” to 2015 & “Howdy” to 2016.
So, enjoy Scattered Sunday, and we’ll see you back & better than ever on January 3 to kick-off 2016 with a bang!
